Dread
Dread

This artwork was made in mid 2017. It is heavily inspired by the plague doctors during the time of the Black Death 1346 - 1353, which created a series of religious, social, and economic upheavals, which had profound effects on the course of European history. These plague doctors wore beak-like mask which was filled with aromatic items. The masks were designed to protect them from putrid air, which was seen as the cause of infection. To this day I still think the plague doctors are pretty cool. About the design choices, I added in a fog effect on the foreground to make the plague doctor seem more menacing and mysterious. In the background, I added the visage of a dead, and withered tree to enhance the creep factor.

Cthulhu
Cthulhu

Judging by the name and imagery, this artwork is obviously based on the book "The Call Of Cthulhu" by H.P. Lovecraft. The artwork itself shows the Star Spawn: Cthulhu, rising from the depths of the sea. This eludes to the quote "ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn", which means "In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming." This quote is about how Cthulhu, the eldritch god, will eventually wake up from his slumber and cause chaos upon the world. The artwork itself is an imagining of this event.

Faltering Faith
Faltering Faith

This artwork was made during difficult times for me, when I was questioning my own faith in my religion, due to, less than good people. The details are not too, complicated. The shadowy figure is in a praying position, clutching a holy symbol tightly. What he doesn't know, is that, his faith has never been stronger than ever, represented by the huge angel wings sprouting out of his back. Most of my personality and endeavours have been applied onto this one.

Dark Skies
Dark Skies

Ah, ravens and crows, my favourite animals from the animal kingdom. This was my second negative pencil artwork done on A3 paper. Up till this day, I still enjoy darker themes when it comes to my artworks. Happier themes, just like music, does not really appeal to me as I never saw the emotion in them being significant or deep in any form. The details are as follows, a close-up of a black bird staring at the viewer. To the side is a black feather breaking apart into a bunch of other black birds. The title 'Dark Skies' is just a nice way of describing the sky filled with black bird.

Howling Moonlight
Howling Moonlight

'Howling Moonlight', my very first negative pencil artwork done on A3 paper. Even though this was my very first one, this one is my proudest work, mostly because it took me so much trial and error to do and in the end, it became exactly how I wanted it to be. It's a very simple artwork that has been done many times in the past, just a lone wolf, howling at the moon on a cliff. The wolf was the object that took me the longest because when I was starting out, I did not know how difficult the proportions of living was to get right. The Chinese in the top right corner mean wolf, very simplistic.

Barbarian Battleaxe
Barbarian Axe

This is one of many crafts using paper, masking tape and cardboard. Originally the axe was meant to be straight. However, because of some, slight errors on my part, there wasn't enough support on the handle, but it started to bend and I just thought it looked beeter curved. So, a slight mistake, managed to enhance the design of a cardboard axe.

Bloodthirster
Bloodthirster

'Bloodthirster', so edgy...

This cardboard longsword was meant to be grey-like steel. However, I didn't have enough black and white paint to make enough grey paint for the blade, so I had to make-do with the color red as it was one of the few colors that I had a surplus of. Well, it still turned out pretty alright.

Cursed Scyth
Cursed Scyth

Dark themes have always been preference. There is nothing darker than death. What is a good representation of death? A scyth, a former farming tool meant for crops, turned into a tool for harvesting souls...yeah. It was originally meant to be staff but, as Halloween came closer, I repurposed the staff to be a scyth. The writing on the side of the blade is in Elvish (Lord of the Rings). It means "Pestilence makes way for Death", reason being is that the complete outfit for Halloween was that of a plague doctor holding the scyth.

Crusader's Sword and Shield
Crusader's Sword and Shield

There was a time when I really liked the Knight Templar's, in fact, I still do. As a kid always really liked knights and what they represented. Very simple design, a heater shield design with a white background and curved red cross across it. Additionally, a shortsword with a sheath. The shortsword is actually my very first craft. It has Elvish writing on it (Lord of the Rings). It's been a long time since I wrote it and I can't remember for the life of me what it means.
